Mindsets that destroy your life

Have you ever thought why people’s action differs with each other? Why some people are assertive and others are timid? Why people work their ass off and why others are lazy?

It was all because we have different mindsets, we all have different perspective in everything but people who succeed in life have also something in common. The same goes for those who are struggling to succeed. But before that what does mindset really means?

According to Psychology Today;

“A mindset is a belief that orients the way we handle situations—the way we sort out what is going on and what we should do.”

These are somewhat how our mind is programmed, it is the way how we react and respond to anything. It dictates our actions and behaviour towards others and situation. It also influences our actions and decisions, and ultimately our life.

The good thing about this is we can always reprogram it. It depends on how you can change it, but it can always be. It just takes some time to change it.

Now that we know how crucial our mindset is, I need to remind you on these crucial mindsets that you have to avoid or remove if you already have it. You may not noticed it but these significantly affect your way of life and constantly drains your success:

1. “Life is unfair”

“Life is fair because it’s unfair to everyone” – Anonymous

This kind of mindset focuses on seeing life as something that is not available for everyone. This mindset gives you the thought that life seems to be a lot better for those who are “Privileged” or “Lucky”. It gives you the excuse not to excel on what you are doing and keeps you focus on what you lacks in life.

There is nothing worse than comparing yourself with anyone better than you and look down on yourself. Remember that the only person who can help you is not your parents, friends, siblings or love ones, it will always be yourself.

Never think that life is unfair, life is always fair because everyone can be become who they wanted to be. It was just that not everyone are willing to pay the price, and that’s hard work.

2. “It was not my fault”

“It is only when you take responsibility for your life, that you discover how powerful you truly are!” – Allanah Hunt

You know that you will never succeed if you keep on blaming other people. You must take full ownership and responsibility of your life. You can’t blame anyone why you are a loser, you can’t blame your race, your parents, your upbringing, your environment or people around you. At the end of the day, it will always be your responsibility.

Having this mindset gives you an excuse and stops you from growing. You always blame others, instead learn from all your mistakes and instead of focusing on how to improve.

You will never succeed if you can’t take responsibility in your own decisions. Face yourself and take full responsibility of your life. You create your own life and nothing else will do it for you.

3. “Mistake means failure”

“Ever tried. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” – Samuel Beckett

This is one of the worst mindsets that you can have in your life. Mistake will always mean that things are not working but it will never mean that you are a failure. You might have committed a lot of mistakes in life but you can never ever call yourself a failure. It will always be about your past decisions but never about who you can become.

Remove this kind of mindset, it will stop you from growing and learning new things. Success and learning new things will always be at the end of mistakes. When things are not working and nothing seems to happen, that’s the time that you can learn the most. Always take some time to process the thoughts why things are not working out. Give yourself time step back and reflect why those things are happening to you.

Learn to see mistakes as an opportunity to learn something new and that’s what will make things a lot different.

4. “It is impossible”

“Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible!’” – Audrey Hepburn

This is one of the lines and mindset of those who never tries. They always limit themselves from the things that they are afraid of. Do you know the story of the Wright brothers? Without them there can be no airplanes today. If they believe with other people that it is impossible for people to fly in the air we won’t see any planes flying in the air.

Nothing is impossible until you’ve proven that it is wrong. When things seem impossible don’t think why it is impossible, rather think how it can be possible. You always have to look at the other side of the coin and make things happen. There are a lot of people who proved this, the believed on their ideas and changed the world.

Never ever say that it is impossible as it will always holds true. The same case if you believe that it is possible. Whatever you believe will always be true. So, if you believe that it is possible for you to be successful in life then you are already one step closer to your goals.

5. “Live life like there’s no tomorrow”

“The purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you lived at all.” – Leo Rosten

I must warn you; this mindset is destroying your future. Doing something without any plans for tomorrow will make your life miserable. You need to be mindful on how you spend your day. Can you predict what will happen to your future if you will just binge-watch netflix and eat unhealthy foods all day? I guess you might have an idea but the point is, you have to live and spend your day responsibly.

The reason that you are where you are right now is because of all the small and big decisions that you did in the past. Each actions and habits that you take and do each day molds and creates your future.

Now let me ask you, are you living your life with a clear purpose? Or you are just living for the day, without any plans for tomorrow? Choose wisely as when the time has passed and you don’t have much time left in this world, the most painful feeling you could experience is “Regret”.

Final thoughts

If you have any of these mindsets, then it is time for you to change it. It will not give anything good and will hold you back from succeeding in life. Choose what you believe and always choose to reassess yourself on what are your beliefs.
